Poshmark Fees: 

Poshmark fees are a bit difficult to ascertain. For a rough estimate, expect them to be approximately 8% of the total sale price. 

 

Here are the fees upon sale:

  • A Seller Fee in the amount of 5.99% of the total order price 
  • A “1-2-3 Fee” in the amount of either $1, $2, or $3, depending on the total order price

 

Note that both fees apply to the total order price, including the item cost, shipping cost, and any applicable sales taxes.

 

Poshmark Fee Breakdown

 

The Seller Fee, 5.99% of the total order price, includes the sale price, shipping costs, and applicable taxes. 

 

The “1-2-3” Fee is a flat fee based on the sale price. 

  • For sales under $15, the fee is $1
  • For sales between $15 and $49.99, the fee is $2
  • For sales $50 and over, the fee is $3

It is important to note that the buyer also pays the “5.99% Seller Fee” and the “1-2-3 Fee.” Poshmark collects these fees from both the buyer and the seller.

eBay fees are the most difficult to ascertain. They truly cannot be estimated due to all the contributing factors. For a very rough estimate, consider eBay fees between 15-20%. 

 

Here are some of the various eBay selling fees:

  • eBay Insertion Fees: Without an eBay Store Subscription, you can list up to 250 monthly items for free. Thereafter, you will incur an insertion fee of $0.35 per listing (for most categories, but it varies).  
  • eBay Store Subscription Fees: There are various types of eBay store subscriptions, each with a different monthly rate. If you have a store, there is a subscription fee, reducing your insertion and final value fees. 
  • eBay Final Value Fees: eBay final value fees are the fee charged on the final sale price. This fee is calculated as a percentage based on the total sale amount plus a $.30 payment processing fee per order. 

Note: The total value of your sale includes the item price, handling charges, and shipping services selected by customers. For example, eBay charges a final value fee of 13.25% plus $0.30 for most clothing categories. 

  •  Other eBay Fees: You may or may not be subjected to several other fees, including promotional fees. You will not likely make a high daily sales volume without promoting your listings. A major eBay seller would say this is part of the fee because it is not really optional. Depending on the rate at which you promote your listings, your total fees can exceed 20%.

  • The buyer pays $5.99 for shipping (actual cost)

Mercari Fees: 

Mercari has no selling fees. That’s right, none. You keep 100% of your sale price on Mercari. 

 

The only small caveat is that they charge a $2 withdrawal fee to transfer funds to your bank account. Note that this is not $2 per transaction but $2 per withdrawal. You can let your balance build before withdrawing your funds and incur the fee. You can also use your balance to shop on Mercari and never incur the withdrawal fee.

  • Listing Fee: Etsy charges a listing fee of $0.20 per item (which renews every 4 months), regardless of whether or not an item sells

  • Transaction fee: The selling fee is 6.5% of the total sale price (including shipping and any applicable taxes).

  • Payment processing fee: 3% + $0.25 per transaction (U.S. rates; vary by country).

  • Offsite Ads fee: 15% of sales if the buyer comes from an Etsy ad, with a cap of $100 per order (optional and only charged if a sale occurs).
