Among all the features and tools Depop developers have introduced in recent years, offers are definitely one of the best, helping buyers and sellers negotiate prices quickly and easily. Whether you’re looking to snag a deal on that vintage mini skirt or aiming to clear out your inventory, understanding how to use this feature can enhance your Depop experience. So, let’s see how Depop offers work, how to send them, and how to cancel!
There are currently two offer features on Depop designed to simplify negotiations between buyers and sellers:
Fun fact: The “Make Offer” feature was introduced in 2022, so buyers were the first ones to start initiating price negotiations, while sellers only gained this ability a year later, in 2023.
According to Depop’s statement, in 2023, buyers received an average discount of 23% on items they purchased via offers. This makes it pretty clear why buyers like this feature and are actively using it.
What about sellers?
The process of making and sending offers is a little different for buyers and sellers, but still pretty straightforward.
When someone clicks “Like” on your item or adds the item to their bag and abandons it there, you get a push notification. These people are called likers, and they’re the ones you can negotiate with. By sending your offer to them, you give them 24 hours to purchase the item at the discounted price or make a counteroffer.
As a seller, you can receive offers, too. You’ll be notified and will have three options to respond: accept, reject, or counter it. You can manage your offers in the “Selling offers” tab in your Inbox.
As of now, sellers can’t send offers to users outside of their country. If you have worldwide shipping enabled, you can still sell globally — just not through offers. Items that are listed with multiple size options are also not eligible for offers.
Note: There’s no limit to the number of offers the seller can receive for one item.

If you’d like to get a better deal on something that has caught your eye on Depop, you can make the seller an offer on this item. Buyers are not allowed to have more than one active offer on the same item at once, so double-check the price and make sure it’s reasonable before clicking the “Send offer” button. If the seller accepts multiple offers for the same item, you and other buyers will be notified, so the one who completes the purchase first will eventually get the item.
The system will also notify you when you receive an offer from a seller, allowing you to accept, dismiss, or counter it with a different price. You can see all your offers in the “Offers” tab in Messages.
Note: Shipping is not included in the offer price. Buyers will need to pay the shipping cost on top of the agreed price.
Whether you’re a buyer or a seller, there are two key things about Depop offers you need to know:
Depop’s offer features are very easy to navigate. Here are the step-by-step instructions for sellers and buyers.
Step 1: Log in to your Depop app and go to your notification feed to see who has liked your items.
Step 2: Choose the buyer you’d like to negotiate with and click “Send offer.”
Step 3. Enter the price you want to suggest and click “Send offer” at the bottom.
Step 1: Log in to your Depop app and find the listing you’re interested in.
Step 2: Click on the “Make offer” button next to the “Add to bag” button at the bottom right corner of the app.
Step 3: Enter the price you want to propose — or choose one of the options suggested by the algorithm — and send your request by clicking “Send offer.”
Both sellers and buyers can counter an offer with a different price to make sure each party gets the best deal.
To send a counteroffer:
For sent offers: Since offers are non-binding and expire in 24 hours, there’s no special functionality to cancel an offer you’ve sent while it’s pending review. If you want to change your offer, you’ll have to wait for it to expire or be declined and then make a new one.
For received offers: When responding to offers that users are not interested in, both buyers and sellers can simply ignore them. However, for sellers who want to maintain professionalism, declining and responding politely may be the right thing to do. For instance, if the offer you received is too low, you can message the buyer, politely letting them know the lowest price you’re willing to accept.
Tip: If you’re a seller and don’t want to receive offers, add something like “Price is firm” in the item’s description. This will help show buyers that you’re not open to negotiations.
