What Can You Sell on Mercari?

Curious about what you can sell on Mercari? The answer is, well, almost anything! As long as the item isn't illegal, intangible, or perishable, you can probably sell it on Mercari. From electronics to media, toys to fashionable clothing, Mercari's categories span a wide spectrum, catering to various tastes and needs.

💡Tip: Selling large and heavy items? Consider Mercari Local, which uses Uber for local deliveries.

How Much Does Mercari Take?

Mercari has no selling fees as of March 2024.

A few things to note:

  • Sellers keep 100% of their sale price, unless they choose to offer free shipping and pay it themselves.
    • There is a $2 fee to redeem your balance. Note that this is $2 per redemption, not per sale. So, if you sell something for $10 and choose to transfer your funds immediately, you will only get $8 in your bank account. However, if you sell 10 things at $10 each, and you patiently await your funds to transfer at once, you will get $98 in your bank account.
  • A payment processing fee and service fee is paid by the buyer in each transaction.

How Do You Get Paid on Mercari?

Once your item reaches its new owner and the buyer rates the transaction (or it's auto-rated within 3 days of delivery), your earnings become available. You have two convenient options:

  • Direct Deposit: Expect your payment within 2-5 business days directly into your bank account. There is a $2 transfer fee each time you transfer your funds.

  • Instant Pay: When time is of the essence, Instant Pay delivers your payment within minutes, deposited onto your debit card. There's a fee of $3 for this speedy service.

💡Tip:  Because Mercari charges per transfer, we recommend letting your balance “build” a bit prior to redeeming it. You also might consider using your balance to shop!

Is Mercari Worth It?

Yes. Mercari is a lucrative marketplace, especially in consideration of how it is low maintenance and has relatively low selling fees.

Mercari is a reseller favorite, especially for those who do not sell exclusively fashion as it provides a simpler alternative (or supplement) to selling on eBay.
