If you’re an online reseller, you must be mindful of marketplace fees. Most marketplaces charge fees for selling in exchange for the audience, hosting, seller tools, seller protection, and shipping rates.
Marketplace fees are something to consider when sourcing and pricing your items. You want to be sure that you source items that you can sell
Here is an overview of most of the reselling marketplaces so you can keep in mind how much it will cost to sell items online:
These metrics and examples are approximations. Note that many marketplace fees cannot be estimated due to the many factors contributing to the final fees, including listing fees, promotional fees, shipping costs, sales tax fees, buyer’s payment method, and withdrawal method.

What Are The Selling Fees on Vestiaire Collective?
On Vestiaire, the fees depend on the sale price and the brand. Vestiaire Collective recently announced no selling fees for over 4,000 designer brands!
Otherwise, fees depend on the brand and sale price:
1. 10% selling fees will apply on the item price, with a minimum of $10 and a maximum of $2000

eBay Fees: How Do eBay Fees Work?
eBay fees are the most difficult to ascertain. They truly cannot be estimated due to all of the factors that contribute to them.
For a super rough estimate, consider eBay fees to be between 15-20%. Here are some of the various eBay selling fees:
eBay Insertion Fees
Without an eBay Store Subscription, you can list up to 250 items per month for free. Thereafter, you will incur an insertion fee of $0.35 per listing (for most categories).
eBay Store Subscription Fees
There are various types of eBay store subscriptions, each with a different monthly rate. If you have a store, there is a fee, of course, but it also affects your insertion fees and final value fees.
eBay Final Value Fees
eBay final value fees are the fee charged on the final sale price. This fee is calculated as a percentage based on the total sale amount plus a $.30 payment processing fee per order.
The total amount of your sale includes the item price, handling charges, and shipping services that are selected by customers.
For example, for most clothing categories, eBay takes a final value fee of 13.25% plus $0.30.
Other eBay Fees
There are a number of other fees that you may or may not be subjected to including promotional fees. In fact, it’s not likely that you will make a high volume of daily sales without promoting your listings. A major eBay seller would say that this is part of the fee because it is not that optional. Depending on the rate at which you promote your listings, your total fees can exceed 20%.
eBay fees are complicated. We could write an entire blog about eBay selling fees; in fact, we did! Check out the article Everything You Need to Know About eBay Selling Fees for more information!
