If you sell clothing, you need measurements for most of your listings.
Most marketplaces require measurements for clothing and apparel, and even if they don’t, you should make it a requirement for you!
Measurements are a hot topic in the reseller community, but it’s a no-brainer to include measurements when you’re selling used clothing that can’t be returned online. I would never pay up for something if I had no idea if it would fit me.
We all know that sizing varies; a “Size 10” jeans from one store might be several inches bigger or smaller than another pair of “Size 10” jeans from a different store. If you think modern sizing is inconsistent, vintage sizing is vastly different.
The other factor is that if you don’t include measurements, buyers will ask for them. It might be a hassle to locate, unbag, measure, and update the buyer in a timely manner. What is even worse is they might not even ask; instead, they might move along to a listing that has measurements provided.
Some sellers do not include measurements, but they cannot measure the volume of sales that they aren’t making because of it.
Think about it: Measurements help SEO, too. With such differences in sizing between brands, buyers search for things like a “30 inch waist.”
At Vendoo, we’re team measurements. The best practice is to include all relevant measurements in your listing descriptions to make more sales.
Tip: Do not include pictures of the measuring device on top of your item. Have you ever seen a brand do that? Not only is it tacky, but you make the buyer work to zoom in and hopefully be able to read them. Plus, you’re losing the SEO of written measurements.
Personally, I do not provide all the measurements for all of the items. For example, I don’t provide sleeve length on a basic t-shirt. In my listings, the category will determine the measurement template.
